General Service Description
The Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) Supported Accommodation Assistance Program (SAAP) Network has been in operation since July 1997. The EHN is a resource to the homelessness sector operating in the Eastern Metropolitan Region.

The Network is directed by a Reference Group, the members of which are drawn from a representative range of SAAP funded services and some other significant services in the region. The Network has a funded Co-ordinator to implement plans and projects of the EHN.

Service User Characteristics within the Eastern Region
There are 2 THMs and 37 SAAP services providing support and/or housing services within the local government areas of Boroondara, Monash, Whitehorse, Manningham, Maroondah, Knox, and Yarra Ranges. These Services work with a complex and diverse range of client groups Youth, Single Adult, Family, Women and Children escaping domestic violence, Koori, and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse groups.

SAAP funded services provide assistance to some of the most marginalised people in our community. Service Workers are often required to assist individuals and families experiencing crisis and presenting with a range of complex issues.

There are 37 SAAP funded services within the Eastern Metropolitan Region providing approximately 4,000 support periods to individuals and families in the previous to 12 months. [About SAAP]
